Ramseys Grill Windsor needs little introduction; it remains one of the more popular Lebanese shawarma & Kebab joints in Windsor, having a prime position on the High street opposite the Castle. Although this outlet caters purely to the takeaway crowd, the shawarmas at Ramsey’s are delicious and the most authentic we’ve tried in town.
You have a choice here of either Chicken or Beef, and both are cooked on the spit, slowly grilled throughout the day. Shavings of the tender meat are cut off for serving and wrapped in a thin pita wrap with a choice of toppings including mixed salad; tomatoes, cucumber, tahini sauce, and sliced gherkin. Effectively this is the Middle Eastern version of a Taco or wrapped Fajitas, but in our opinion much better!
Other Lebanese side dishes are also available to go, including tabouleh (bulgar, tomatoe and parsley salad), Sambusas, Warak Enab (stuffed vine leaves), Homous, and Tahini. If you’re not a fan of Shawarma, Shish Kebab meats are also available, arguably the healthier option, as these are fillets of chicken or beef grilled to perfection.
If you do fancy eating in, the owner also runs Ramsey’s Buffet which opened next door in 2012, and also provides catering for parties and special occasions.Staff are friendly, and as in most Kebab outlets, will walk you through the process as they customise your Shawarma sandwich. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a fan of a good kebab.
