Hotel Chocolat Windsor needs little introduction, this quintessentially British chain of chocolatiers specialise in the finest confectionery and treats. Whether you have a sweet tooth yourself or are just looking for a luxurious gift for a friend, this is probably one of the best places to stop. The company has been around since 1988, and although it re-branded as ‘Hotel Chocolat’ in 2003, it has since expanded into the US and the Middle East, opened a boutique Hotel (Boucan) in St Lucia, along with a a chain of Cocoa Cafes (Roast & Conch) across London and the UK.

Hotel Chocoalt Windsor therefore is just a small window into the world of Hotel Chocolat, however it is one worth peeking through. With their own Cocoa Plantation in St Lucia, these guys know a thing or two about chocolate, but beyond the ingredients, it is the creativity of the confectionery available here that really impresses.

Part of the range is devoted to some cult British classics, Fancy an Eton mess? Try the Eton Mess Chocolate Bar, this bar is fused with tangy strawberries, crisp meringue pieces and creamy white chocolate, divine! Other English inspired items include some wonderful Apple Cider truffles, and mouth watering Pink Rose pralines. Fans of salted caramel will also be happy to know there is a wide selection in both milk, dark and slab Form.

Hot drinks were previously available here with a chocolate drinks station near the front of the shop, this sadly seems to have been remove from the store. However you can still buy the Hot Chocolate range in jars to take home.

With time to browse we were surprised to learn that Hotel Chocolat Windsor also offer a range of cooking ingredients which will no doubt appeal to Chocoholics. Try their Chocolate Pasta, cooked in Chocolate Olive Oil, perhaps with a glass of their Chateau chocolate red wine – available in store at £22 a bottle. Finish your meal off with their amazing Chocolate Fondue dipping sets, just add strawberries!

If that’s not enough ‘Death by Chocolate’, Hotel Chocolat Windsor also offer a range of beauty products, hand creams, and body washes. Staff were on hand throughout our visit to answer all of our questions, and even offered us a free sample of their chocolates. Pop in for a free sample, and who knows what you’ll leave with!

Blott Windsor is not just any stationary store, it’s a stationary shop with a ‘creative twist’. If Willy Wonka owned a stationary shop, we reckon Blot would be a lot like it. Walking inside their Windsor location (there are five others across England) verges on mind blowing, one is immediately met with a quirky selection of colourful pens, notepads (emblazoned with cute little animals) and writing paper for all your scribbling needs.

The front area of Blott is sure to attract kids who pass by, and we’re guessing that’s the idea, with over a hundred varieties of erasers, each formed into tiny little animals, or faux food snacks, these could easily become the next must have ‘collectibles’ in the house, but be warned, at £1.25 each, or 10 for £10, these are by no means cheap.

But Blott Windsor stock more than just school stationary, it’s also a great place to pick up greeting cards, wrapping paper,or small gifts for the family. We noticed some fun looking luggage tags, woodcraft sets, pocket gardening packs and even those retro animated rulers (the kind you shake to animate) lots of fun! For the creative kid in you (or the family), the ‘Make & Do’ section of Blott is likely to appeal, this includes a huge range of Construction & Paint Kits, Craft items, stamps and sticker books.

However it’s not all fun and games, and Blott stock a wide variety of proper stationary, folders and pens. For those wanting an alternative way to revise, some neat study cards can be bought here, a cool way to keep notes, you basically attach them to your pencil case or school bag for a quick cramming session on the move. Other branches of Blott can be found in Guildford, Cambridge, Reading Tunbridge Wells, & Sheffiled Meadowhall, and we’re told there are plans in the works for Blott outlets in Manchester and Leeds very soon.

A Blott online store is also available which sells the full range of Blott products. Blott Windsor Opening times can be seen in the information box below.

Molton Brown Windsor have been producing luxury bath products for over forty years. Although now owned by the Kao Corporation of Japan (acquired in 2005), the line remains quintessentially English. This location on Windsor’s Peascod Street has the full range of Molton Brown beauty products which are perfect for a birthday gift, Christmas present or any special occasion. A special range of offers often appear around both Mothers & Fathers day.

The large store includes a range for both Men and Women, products include shampoo, conditioners, hand creams, body lotions, shower gels and moisturisers. They also specialise in make-up tuition, hair products, bridal services and travel solutions. The interior has a contemporary feel, and staff go out of their way to offer advice and help to customers who drop in. A new range of Perfumes was also introduced in 2013.

We have been huge fans of Molton Brown toiletries for quite some time, the shampoos and lotions are all very good. If you’re struggling to find the perfect present for the man who has everything, the Men’s Black Pepper Body Scrub is a popular choice. We also think the Thai vert hand wash and Paradisic Pink Pepperpod body exfoliator are pretty special.

Women will also no doubt adore the traveler gift sets, and scented candles. There are three main sizes here, the Largest being the Forte Candela with over 90 hours burning time, next is the Medio Candela with 40 hours, and smallest is the Piccolo Box sets which include four small candles that can be burned separately or together for a bit of aromatic harmony.

Free skin care consultations and mini facials are also available here created by celebrity skin care expert Nathalie Eleni. Be sure to get on their mailing list, not only for the discounts, but also for invites to their occasional in store events!

Molton Browns Windsor opening hours can be seen in the information box below.

Opposite the St John the Baptist church on Windsor High Street lies vibrant cafe Fitzroy and Bailey. This self described ‘cafe deli foodstore’ opened in November 2012 and has joined the wave of new coffee shops that have recently arrived in Windsor. Serving coffees, pains et viennoiseries, & cakes in the morning, followed by freshly made sandwiches at lunch time make this the perfect pit-stop for a snack.

The interior is smartly decorated, contemporary subway tiles line the walls and contrast nicely with the black and white marbled floor. As for the food, the menu is extensive but the sandwiches are the number one sellers here. Drinks include old favourites like Fentimans Ginger Beer, Old Fashioned Rose Lemonade, and Chegworth Valley Apple Juice.

WindsorGo dropped by Fitzroy and Bailey at lunch time and noticed a huge stack of baguettes which has just arrived (prepared each day by staff at the on site kitchen below).

We tucked into one of their scrummy sandwiches, a chicken and mango chutney baguette, along with a cheeky salted caramel brownie, Yum! Washed down with a Rose Lemonade, we were not disappointed. Staff were incredibly friendly both upstairs and below in the Kitchen (Who you’re likely to meet if you descend the stairs to the downstairs loo).

Although small Fitzroy and Bailey does have seating for eight and a small deli area at the back. Products include a wide selection of British, French and Continental cheeses, artisan and sourdough breads, along with some lovely Charcuterie & cured meats. Special deals at the time of writing include a free croissant with every coffee, weekdays from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Also for Noodle Lovers out there, hand made ramen is available every Saturday from 6pm to last orders at 8:30pm. Worth a try! Catering Services are also available for Dinner parties, Birthdays, Family gatherings, as well as business events , gallery openings and made to order picnics to take up to Windsor Great Park!

Barbour Windsor is located on the corner of Peascod street and Windsor High Street. It is one of the original Barbour UK stores and overlooks Windsor castle. The tourist spot is the perfect place to pick up a classic Barbour Jacket, the store stocks a range of the traditional & sporting lines, as well as a selection of wellies, shoes and travel bags. The store was refurbished in 2011, and now stocks a range of beautifully quilted Jackets, Gilets, Waterproofs & Casual wear.

Although the more contemporary lines which include the Barbour Steve McQueen collection and recent Tokito (Beacon Heritage Sports Jacket) were unavailable on our visit, Barbour staff informed us that they could order any item from the online Barbour web catalog to be delivered to the store – Good to know for those that want to save on home delivery costs.

The Beacon Heritage Jacket created quite a buzz when first released in 2012; the design was a collaboration between Barbour and Japanese designer Tokihito Yoshida. Made from sylkoil wax, and featuring a poachers pocket, removable hood and tartan lining, it later made an appearance in Bond flick SkyFall, which as you can imagine, only made it more popular. From the Steve McQueen collection, the Sunblast is our personal favourite, a pre-aged Jacket emblazoned with a vintage american flag above the angled chest pocket.

The Barbour Winter Range is released every August, but for those that can’t make up their minds, gift cards are also available in store.

Although repairs and reproofing cannot be done on site at the Barbour Windsor store, staff can provide garment return forms so items can be sent to the Barbour factory in South shields for repair or servicing. Collections stocked include the following line: Men’s Classic, Men’s Heritage, Men’s International, Men’s Lifestyle, Women’s Classic, Women’s Heritage, Women’s Lifestyle, Accessories. Online orders can also be placed at Barbour by Mail

For us at WindsorGo there’s a new favourite in town! Creme Windsor is a very welcome addition to Windsors array of restaurants, and this ones certainly not relying on just its position and the constant flow of fresh tourists. This place really does seem to be the real deal with fresh ingredients bursting with flavour, attentive friendly staff eager to please and a laid back feel good atmosphere. The two for one offer on main courses seemed too good to miss when we dropped by at lunchtime on a weekday. We tried both the tuna steak, and South African Rib Eye. The rib-eye steak was particularly good, seared to a crisp on the outside and bloody as hell in the middle – Tarantino would be impressed! Keep it up guys!
